As we opened our doors a near 95 years ago, tailoring and gentleman's outfitting was at the heart of the business. Arch Hume, the founder of Humes Outfitters, a Master Tailor, along with his team of 5 highly specialised tailors made all suits and jackets in-house, using the finest tweeds and cloths. As the demand for bespoke clothiers declined, replaced by easier, off-the-peg options, the landscape of gents retail changed to align with this. At Humes Outfitters we believe a healthy balance is best, and we are extremely proud to continue to offer this special and unique service alongside our ready-to-wear country clothing.

Made to Measure Tailoring
A made to measure item is something that fits you perfectly, tailored to your specific measurements and body shape. We understand that a bespoke piece of clothing is an investment, and we want you to enjoy every minute of your made to measure experience as it should be.
Once you have discussed with your Outfitter what you are looking for in depth, they will take your measurements, you will then decide on your cloth and any custom details such as lapel shapes, pocket styles and linings. You may already have something in mind, however we offer a huge choice of over 500 of the finest British cloths, with tweeds from the Scottish Borders, Leeds and Yorkshire.
Your information is then given to our trusted manufacturers, all tweed suits and jackets are made in England.
We would advise to allow eight weeks to make your garment. We insist on a fitting half way through the process and then a final fitting upon completion.

Made to Measure Kilts and Trews
We offer a Made to Measure service for kilts and tartan trousers.
We can make kilts and tartan trousers in over 500 different tartans and can help choose the correct tartan for your family name. Our tartan cloths are sourced from Scotland, including two weavers in the Scottish Borders and Perthshire and all made to measure kilts are made in Scotland by a traditional kilt maker.
In store we also offer a range of flashes, kilt belts & buckles, socks, kilt pins, sporrans and brogues to complete your desired look.
